What plane is this? Can't be a Lockheed tristar for sure. It is an Md-11 or DC-10?

Forget the past man, nowadays we're concentrating on Boeing 777s, and A-340s, according to Janes Civil Monthly. It said that PIA was planning to acquire a total of 14 Boeing 777s, and is looking at diversifying with A-340s too.

Its a DC-10

PIA exchanged its Barnd spanking new DC-10 for Air Canada's old 747-200 which in my opinion was a very stupis fishy deal

747-200 is still in service with PIA. Also it had more carry. emot-ermm.gif

The Planes were exchanged while Air Marshal Waqar Azim was Chairman PIA.

It was rumoured at that time that the deal initially offered for one for one replacement including all spare parts and consumables. The initial deal was good for Pakistan, however in the end PIA ended up paying $120 million pl;us the Aircrafts.

Where the $120 million went is any body's guess. I heard this from a reliable source but I cannot confirm that PIA did in fact Pay $120 million plus the initial deal of one for One exchange.

If some one can shed some light on that deal I will be much obliged.

Whatever we gained in terms of payload (pax & cargo) was offset by maintainence cost. Engines and airframe required my frequent overhauls since they had done pver 10000 hrs by the time we got them
