My vote goes for the Tiger. I believe they are bigger, but there are some people who think Lions can win.

This is just funny.

wronge, both the lion and the tiger used to be found in Pakistan. The tiger got extinct during the 19th century, while the lion during the beginning of the 18th century. The name Sher was given to the Tiger by the Mughals. Babar Sher is the name for the Lion. Cheetah is the hindi word for the Cheetah that roams Africa and Iran (Asiatic Cheetah)

do you guys know anything about Ligers
Its a cross btw a Lion and a Tiger

Ligers do not occur in the wild, they result only from captive breeding. This is not because it is impossible, just extremely unlikely as the two species ranges overlap only slightly and a tiger would not be likely to associate with a pride of lions.
The liger is potentially the largest cat that currently exists in the world, typically larger than either of its parent species.
Here is a Liger

General information
A liger is the result of breeding a male lion with a female tiger. It has stripes and spots. The spots are inherited from the lion parent even though adult lions do not appear to be spotted.
The liger is a hybrid cat that inherits most of the strengths of both parent species and is larger than either. If you haven't seen a liger before, come visit Hobbs to get a look at the biggest cat you are ever likely to have seen. By way of size comparison, male Siberian tigers (the largest non-extinct naturally occurring member of the cat family, Felidea) average between 400 and 600 pounds. We estimate Hobbs to weigh about twice that.
All ligers are presumed to be born sterile. This is not unusual for hybrids. Mules are the result of breeding a horse with a donkey and are also presumed to be sterile, although there is an occasional, extremely rare, exception.

those Siberian Tigers look far too big and obese compared to the gorgeous Royal Bengal Tigers. There ain't no match for those beauties !

. As for Asiatic Lions, Gir is the last sanctuary, but now plans are afoot to move to them to other locations in Gujarat too. kinda like keeps them safe from being wiped out at one go from some epidemic.

Did you guys know that all White Tigers the world over are descended from white Royal Bengal Tigers only ? There are no white Siberian Tigers in the world. Those that are claimed to be are just cross-bred with Royal Bengals.
and just to let you guys know, the Indian Navy MiG-29Ks will be handed over to the No.300 White Tiger squadron, which currently operate the Sea Harrier.

I would say LION !
simply because LION is one lazy ass animal who never hunts on its own ... it uses its women to feed him .... but the moment .. food is not there .... a hungry lion will tear apart anything in seconds ... it dosent give a crap to how big the pray may be .... i have seen (i think in documentries) where a lazy ass lion got hungry ... and all alone brought down one OX ... and another one quickly after ..
A tiger would probably wont be much of a match for one ticked off LION
also lion tends to usualy hunt bigger animals in the Tiger ...
so lion is where i am putting my money !

Then a male lion vs a famale mother tiger. The female tiger will own the lion. Tigers are biggest cats in the world man, and the female is unstopable.

The Lions were thought to be inactive... wrong perception.
No one ever filmed Lions at night, but new footage
with Night Vision devices shows that most of the Lion
activity is during the night.
Thats why they sleep so much during the day.

Good question. I have too wondered about this question, and other similar questions such as: leaporad vs jaguar, Great white -vs- killer whale, American Pitbull -vs- African Baboon, Grizlly bear -v-s polar bear for a while now. I did some research a sometime back and reached the conclusion that in a fight between a healthy male lion and a healthy male tiger, the lion is more likely to win . Here are my reasons:
- Tigers are by nature reclusive animals. This means that all tigers have to fend for themselves and if a male tiger did somehow cross into a male lion's territory, it is going to find a way out than to stand and fight. Reason: it can't afford to stand, fight and injure a limb. That would be risking too much since no other family member will fend for him. On the other hand, a lion has all his females to take care of him. He can afford to fight.
- We have to consider the primary purpose of Lions and Tigers in their respective societies. While a male tiger mostly keeps to himself, a lion is a social animal. The purpose of a male tiger is to socialise only when it needs to mate. Its a shy animal preferring flight to fight. On the other hand, the only purpose of a lion in a pride is to protect it from other lions taking over. He's programmed to do this since any would-be overtakers will kill his cubs to induce mating and make sure that their gene is transeferred. In short, nature has evolved the lion into a supreme fighting machine, and the tiger into a supreme hunting machine
- To further support this argument, notice the body strucutre of both the animals. Notice the mane on a lion. Ever wondered why its only exclusive to the lions in big cats or there in the first place? Simple. Since a lion's life revolves so much around fighting, nature has provided it with this self-defence weaponary to protect its neck from injuries. Tigers hardly have any of this nature's self defence mechanism. So if a tiger tries to bite a lion's neck, all it is going to get is a lot of hair in his mouth. In fact a lion's mane is such a crucial part of his life that male lions that dont consitently win fights grow an long black manes, and those lions that end up losing will have shorter brown manes. Lionesses, in turn, are attracted to lions with black manes. A fact proven by research. Then we also have to consider the up-bringing of both these animals. Lions are brought up in a pride where they constantly have to defend themsevles from older, mischievious cubs. After getting expelled from the pride, the young lions have to again fight with other cubs of their age or slightly older than them to find a terrtory for themselves. This gives lions better endurance and better skills to fight. Bottom line, by the time a male lion cub turn into an adult, its an animal with fighting skills hardly matched by any other animal.
- Morevoer, historically too, lions have been known to out-fight the tigers. There was a very good website dealing with this question but I cant seem to locate it right now. It quotes specific incidents of lion/tiger fights.
Thats my two cents. hope it helps decide for those still undecided.
Between, check out the following image to get a better idea of the relative size of a Liger. This is a picture that I saved on my HD a long time ago.

I was always of the opinion Tigers were far bigger and ruthless than Lions. Wouldn't that give the Tiger a pivotal edge? The poor Lion has a bad reputaton of being lazy which isn't entirely true as shown by Discovery and National Geo channels.
After reading opinions here and watching their documentaries, I'm still undecided. Its one hell of a death match
But I tell you one fight I loved watching - I once saw 6-7 Lions take on a single Crocodile (on BBC). It was crazy shit, they couldn't pierce the Croc's thick armour and only went at its tail. But whenever the Croc turned and lunged at them with its mouth wide open, the all lions jumped back. They definately showed respect and really didnt know how to tackle it as they don't encounter Crocs that often except at the river crossings

jahil khota Sharma, national animals are choosen not because of how big they are or look, but by how important they are to Biodiversity. India has choosen the Tiger as its national animal, as it is found all over India and that India has the biggest population of wild Tigers in the world. Markhor is the National animal of Pakistan, coz it is found in most numbers in Pakistan. Russian has choosen the brown bear as its natioanl animal as it is found all over Russia. And China the panda, coz it is only found in China.
Ab khota, we could have choosen the snow leopard or the common leopard as our national animal just because they are big and powerful, but these two are not found in the greatest number in Pakistan. Samgha ke tujhee samghaoon aur
