What a shame.
The internet in the long run probably does more for Islamic unity than OIC meetings on unity. In the long run internet allows Muslims from many different backgrounds to communicate who normally do not meet and get to know each other. According to western media, internet is a powerful recruiting tool for al-Q itself.

We are the most retarded (so-called) ummah in Islamic history!
The Muslims of today are the worst of the worst!
Either we are demented talibani twisted extremists... or we are liberal leftist (wanna-be) western stooges.... or we are just unconcerned self-centered, ignorant, lazy Muslims
Sad... Sign of the Times..

Ok, This is normal for many reasons, first we can't conclude the majority of people attending here are asleep as we have no way of proving that from the pictures. Second its summer time in Iran, which means that Isha is at around 10-10:30, these guys probably went to sleep at around 11:00 or 12:00 o'clock, and Fajr is at 4:00 am! since this is a conference, maybe they woke up at around 3:00 to get ready, as most these guys look like they made the effort to take showers, get dressed and etc. Second, if this is a whole day affair that has gone on for a few days already, then these guys are preaty tired of this same routine of just 3 hours of sleep. I have been to some Jamati ijtamas which last about three days, and are full day affairs, every one has to get up at fajr, sleep at night, and a few hours at ishraq, if you've got friends, then you probably can't catch any sleep during the night, so you must get by on whatever you can, it's quite possible to doze of like the pictures during the speeches, especially if its being translated by some boring fellow in a monotoned voice. I hope people understand.

My dear this is all due to different LANGUAGES, Iranian will be speaking Persian, Arabs will be addressing in Arabic, Africans may be in English. This kind of things only happen when you are not understanding a single word out of speaker's mouth.
Time to look at our educational systems actually.

Hardly any surprise... Notice that hardly any youngsters are participating in this conference?

Some blame lies at the feet of the the representatives at the conference, you should try to concentrate more. However when you see the amount of people feeling sleepy i think you can blame the organisers too.
1. Perhaps they could not understand the speakers, the translation tools used by the UN should have been present.
2. perhaps the timing was not arranged properly, human concentration spans require breaks, and variation in presentation.
Also why must we send big old diplomats, why not teams of people who are actually interested in the issues, sitting around tables in small groups, discussing thier opinions, drawing things on flip charts, getting actively involved?
why must it al be so formal?

The headset is for translations. Its not lack of translation thats putting them to sleep.
