I found this to be interesting and balanced documentary, Brother SaudiArabian you can point out any mis-representation that you might find in this documentary.

From my understanding it was the Hashemites and Turk Nationals who caused problems for Ottoman empire and its demise. Some have argued it was Saud's. I thought Saud drove out Hashemites(who rebelled against Ottoman) from Hijaz. Members can shed light on that as well.

none the less here is documentary.

Part 1
Part 2
SaudiArabian
i would suggest reading the encyclopedia on the history of the Saudi states which is available at Desert Warrior website because its very informative and its an academic highly-informative study but unfortunately its in Arabic only even though it puts information on everything.

here are some of my comments so far after i watch PART 1 ..

1- Wahhabism is an Ibadhi sect founded in the 2nd Hijri Century (1200 years ago) by by Abdulwahhab bin Abdulrahman bin Rustum Al Ibadhi. read the book "CORRECTING HISTORICAL MISTAKE ABOUT THE WAHHABIS" by Dr.Al-Shuwaier to understand who are the wahhabi sect and the roots of this term and where it came from and how the Sunni movement of Imam Ahmad bin Abdulwahhab became labeled with that term.

2- Imam Abdulaziz had two Armies , the 1st is called Army of Jihad (Jaish Al-Jihad) which its troopers are trained and well-equipped and their origins are from the civilians of Najd. while the 2nd is called Army of Brothers (Jaish Al-Ikhwan) who were good religious bedouins and effective warriors but they failed to absorb the science and new technologies of the world then became extremists who started burning cars and radios because they say its black magic and their lack of discipline and rejection of orders. Imam Abdulaziz had to declare war on them and they were crushed once and for all by the Army of Jihad in a major battle called Al-Sablah in 19 Shawwal 1347H - 30 Mars 1929 AD.

3- Madawi Al-Rasheed and Prince Talal can not be reliable for accurate information. the 1st is an anti-Saudi woman who belonged to the rival family of Al-Saud , known as Al-Rasheed. plus she is secular and Islamophobic and currently residing in the UK. the 2nd , Prince Talal , is an Arab Nationalist and liberalist who had troubles with the Saudi government in the past and he is the father of Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and he claimed his father King Abdulaziz was "taking salary" from Britain.

4- the video is more about the Saudi-US relations instead of the history of the House of Saud.

5- the BBC avoided speaking about the 1st and 2nd Saudi states. it seems this documentary is strictly about the 3rd Saudi state.

6- BBC avoided mentioning anything about British Empire huge military support for the Hashemi Sharif of Makkah army to defeat the Saudi State.

7- King Faisal is NOT the 2nd son of Abdulaziz.

8- Saud is NOT the 1st son of Abdulaziz.... Abdulaziz is known as "Abu Turki" because Turki is his first son.

9- the claims that King Saud was alcoholic sounds nonsense. his travels to Europe was for treatment because he get ill alot.

10- the video was talking about the demonstrations led by Prince Khalid bin Misa'id in 1965 but the video was showing scenes from the Iranian coward revolution guards bloody demonstrations in Makkah in 1987

11- no mentioning of Saudi Arabia's declarance of war on israel in 1948 and its dispatch of thousands of troops and its military supplies to Palestine army.

12- no mentioning of the Saudi hosting of Egyptian jet fighters in Tabuk in 1956 to launch attacks against the British , French and israeli invaders.

13- no mentioning of the Saudi-Egyptian problems on Yemen and the Egyptian Air Force bombing of Southern Saudi towns.

14- no mentioning of Saudi Arabia's participation in both 1967 and 1973 Arab-israeli wars.

15- there was an American plane attacked and destroyed by the Saudi army long time ago during the reign of King Saud but i can't remember when exactly but there was no mention of it in this documentary.

16- it showed as if it was the US only which deployed its forces in KSA in 1990 during Iraq's invasion of Kuwait forgetting the role of Saudi , British , French and other Arab and global participation.

17- responding to Mudhawi Al-Rasheed rubbish about Saudi military. it would be better if she speaks in her proffession and not speak about the things she has no idea about. Iraq was few months away from producing its 1st nuclear bomb. Saudi military was prepared to go to war with israel and iran but never expected Iraq to be an enemy. in 1988 KSA was capable of using its F-15C's and AWACS's to block the Saudi airspace and prepared to launch military strike against israel. but in 1990 the Saudi AWACS's weren't even programmed to be used against Iraq and KSA had to spend several weeks to programe it to use against Iraqi military.

18- whats with the drums ??

19- apparently this video was made several years ago before Abdullah became King.

What is clear is and there is no denyin this, the Saudi king brought in the americans who have taken the region as hostage now to bring them protection from the outside and inside. One should not forget the teachings of the prophet, non muslims can never really be trusted in the geopolitical sence as was made clear by the partion of palestine.

Just simply saying its nonsense does not hide the possibility that king saud did enjoy the drink and loved a glamorous lifestyle letting the country go into debt and then borrowing off american oil companies.

According to the video it was the Saudi preacher Juhayman al-Otaibi leader of the ikhwan who were against the Saudi kings from the beginning that carried out the siege in Mekka and not the iranian revolution. Can you clarify your point here because somebody is not telling the whole truth here.

Actually I thought there were two incidents in late 70's and early 80's. One of them being siege of Holy Masjid and claims of Appearance of Mahdi. The other was Iranian pilgrimage disruption during Hajj.

As for the siege it was led by Juhayman al-Otaibi, who incited this fellow named Muhammed ibn Abdullah al-qahtani, and told him that he was Mehdi Al-muntazir (The awaited Mehdi). Juhayman was also married to Muhammed sister. Keeping in mind Sunni sources of Hadith regarding Mehdi states that Mehdi's name will be Prophet (PBUH) name and his father name will be Prophet (PBUH) fathers name. Hence Juhayman was convinced that his brother in law Muhammed Ibn Abdullah was Mehdi. Another Hadith from Sunni sources states that Mehdi will flee to medina where people will grab hold of him between Black stone and Maqam of Ibrahim and will give him their allegiance. So thats what Juhayman did, he seized the microphone early morning and claimed that Medhi had appeared, and some people started to give allegiance to Muhammed ibn Abdullah between Maqam and black stone. Initially some Saudi scholars were confused since some of the signs were fulfilled and some were not, but then scholars passed a decree so the government was allowed to route out these terrorist. There is controversy as to who was involved many argue it was Saudi and Pakistani special forces send in by Zia, others say it was French special forces.

As for the Iranian uprising at Hajj I am not much familiar with, but it was after Iranian revolution.
