Israel has unveiled a new aircraft that officials say is capable of spying on Iran.

Looks very advanced and sophisticated after all its Israeli technology

The new spy plane looks good and seems to be harnessing some advanced technologies.
It will have to be stealthy to spy on Iran since Iran has the S-300 so it can attack very high altitude aircraft and down them. So for this spy plane to be successful spying on Iran it will have to be stealthy so as to evade Iranian radars.

Any further information about this aircraft would be well appreciated.

definatly are GulfStream G550, modified by israelis and a AESA radar mounted on them....their own airforce ordered several out of which above i think is the first delivery....

But israel has jamming abilities(i don't know whether it can jam S-300). There Block 40 F-16s and F-16I have a dorsal spine(carriage space) which is not possessed by any other F-16 in the world. It is rumored that sophisticated ECM,Jamming equipment is carried in it.

actually other countries have that dorsal spine aswell.

Its not a AWAC, its a AEW&C. Like the one that Pakistan bought, the Saab Erieye.

A simple explanation of the difference would be:

The difference between AWACS and AEW is that an AWACS carries additional crew who perform Command and Control duties (think military version of an airport control tower), and an AEW feeds its sensor picture back to a surface station.

Think about the platform used for a AEW&C world over and then relate it to space contraints to put in the extra Command and Control.

All F-16 aircraft block 50/52 and the more advanced versions of the F-16 all have a dorsal spine.

This spy plane is definately not an AWAC lol, it is as someone before me pointed out an AEW&C aircraft.

They are going to use these to scan Iranain territory and aircraft without facing any danger. Hone their jamming skills a little and launch the occasional intrusion for a survellaince mission.

Its not going to meet the S300. It will scan Iranian territory and aircraft and then launch intrusions into Iranian airspace (when no Iranian aircraft are detected) to spy on Iran. The S300 is a potent SAM but Iran has few S300s and all of these will be stationed at facilities and cities in the heart of Iran.

It is a Gulfstream G550 based version of Phalcon called Eitam or Sea Eagle. Apart from modifications to the Phalcon sensor suit, the G550 offers a lot of oprational economies over other airframes such as 737,Il-76, B767 etc which suits Israel and other potential customers. It was offered to both singapore and South Korea (for their E-X) requirement. However Unkil Sam forced them to go with the Boeing widgetail platform. For Shehz---- bro I think IAI has bought a share in Gulfstream or has an agrrement with them as they have started to produce G150 and other Gulfstreams in Israel. So be sure to see new Israeli EW or even maritime patrol aircraft based on the Gulfstream.
